At Wyatt Academy we believe that when we support the whole child, whole family, and whole community, we lead by example and help our students see how to build a better world- one person, one community at a time.
We are Wyatt, somos Wyatt, a free public charter school in Denver’s Cole-Whittier neighborhood, for students K-5. The community built this school to bring our much-needed educational services to our growing neighborhood. We continue to show our gratitude by nurturing both students in this historic building and relationships in our diverse community. Listening to - and designing services for - our community is what makes us a leader in creative support for everyone.
Our commitment to community extends well beyond the school day. We believe in supporting the whole child, which means supporting social, emotional, and academic needs. A large part of providing whole child nurturing is in the basics. Students need clean clothes, good food, exercise, and the community’s love to flourish. We are fortunate enough to provide this – to every Wyatt student and to our broader community – through our Wonder Garden, mini pitch, beautiful new playground, and Empowerment Center, all right here on campus. In combination with our talented, devoted staff our students thrive socially, emotionally, and academically at Wyatt.
What makes us unique is that we also welcome the entire community to these services.
The Wyatt Family Empowerment Center enhances the wraparound services we provide to our families. It is our community hub and includes a laundromat, clothing boutique, grocery center, and computer lab - all at no cost to families, thanks to partnerships with local organizations such as We Don’t Waste, Denver Food Rescue and Conscious Alliance.
We are proud to be the recipient of a Mini Pitch, thanks to Colorado Rapids Soccer Club, sponsored by Target and the U.S. Soccer Foundation. This safe soccer playspace brings children, families, and our community together for an active, healthy lifestyle. As Ed Foster-Simeon, President & CEO of the U.S. Soccer Foundation said, “It’s important for children to know that people believe in them and are willing to invest in them and their communities.”
We believe when we take care of our community, we take care of each other, including our K-5 students, at our thriving, free public charter school. More than that, we show our students the importance of community, teamwork, and equity. Every person in our community matters; this warm, safe, caring, and motivating environment exudes great energy.
